There is a torch in each bedroom in case there is a power-cut. They are in the bedside cabinets.

Please could you:

• start the dishwasher, choosing a quick programme if you can
• make sure the towel rail is turned off
• lock the balcony door and all the windows
• leave one set of keys on the kitchen table
• lock the flat door and the front door of the building (you’ll need to lift the handle up to lock the main front door - watch us demonstrating this!)
• put the keys back in the lockbox
• and finally, please scramble the numbers!

You can set the temperature in each room individually: just use the Hive panels on the wall and press the Up or Down arrows.

If it's cold, we turn the heating on in advance for you.

The fans in the bedrooms are part of the mechanical heat recovery ventilation system – they filter the air and bring clean air back in. They will go on for a little while if you come into a room, because you bring heat in with your body. If they are annoying you when you are going to bed, rest assured they will stop when the temperature in the room settles - but if you like, you can turn them off. There is a switch labelled “Central Extractor” in the utility cupboard next to the shower room. Please turn them back on again before you go.

The hot water battery is set to use solar power, backed up by the grid. We have set it so that there should always be plenty of hot water for normal use – but just in case, here is how to give the system a boost:

• Go into the little hall cupboard, next to the bathroom
• At eye-level on the back wall, there is a box which has the word “eddi” on it. This controls how the system takes power from the grid and/or the solar panels.
• There is a row of four buttons about halfway down the Eddi – the one on the right says “Boost”. Press this. Then press again to choose Heater 1, then press again to confirm.
• In 20 minutes there should be lots of hot water again.

Turn on the TV with the remote control on the TV table, using the top left button.

Change live TV channels using the Channel up and down arrows on the remote.

For streaming apps, press the home button, just below the down arrow. Choose your streaming platform.

Please help yourself to anything at all in the kitchen - it's all for you.

All cleaning products are eco-friendly except the dishwasher tablets, as we can’t find eco ones that work properly. We provide kitchen roll, a sponge, cloths, washing up liquid, hand soap, hand cream, washing up liquid and dishwasher tablets.

Everything should be in a logical place, either by the sink or under the sink.

Full instructions for all the kitchen appliances (except the coffee machine) are in the plastic folder left with this instruction manual.

SHOWER ROOM

We provide soap, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, a hand towel and a bath mat. In the drawer under the sink, there is a hairdryer, a first aid kit and also a collection of “things you might forget” like a toothbrush, toothpaste etc.

You turn on the towel rail using the power button on the panel on the bottom right of the rail. Please turn this off when you leave.

LOO

We provide soap, a hand-towel and loo roll.
Eco-friendly, organic tampons and liners (TOTM brand) are in the small cupboard under the sink.

There are tea lights for the lanterns in the bottom kitchen drawer. There is also a "clicker" to light them - it is USB powered. You might need to recharge it.

To use it, push the slider to On and then press the round power button.

The fuse box is in the little cupboard on the right as you face the shower room.

There is an ironing board and iron in the little cupboard on the right as you face the shower room. There is also an umbrella, shopping bags, and old towels for walking boots or drying wet doggies!

We have three white boxes (two inside and one outside) in the flat for recycling, plus a food waste bin on the windowsill and a rubbish bin under the sink.

Two of the white boxes are in the cupboard to the left of the oven. They are for the following recycling:

PURPLE - PAPER AND CARDBOARD
Paper, cardboard, newspapers, magazines.

RED - METAL AND PLASTIC

Food and drink cans, plastic bottles, plastic punnets/ready meal trays, yoghurt pots, aerosols (must be empty), aluminium foil/kitchen foil, drink cartons, eg orange juice etc.

Please rinse out the containers before recycling.

Please note that sadly, Monmouthshire Council cannot yet recycle 'soft plastics': crisp packets, plastic bags, cling film and polystyrene.

GREEN – GLASS
The third white box is on the balcony. This is for glass bottles and jars. Please rinse before recycling.

If the bins in the flat fill up, please take them to the bin store on the left of the house as you are looking at it. In there, you will find coloured bags, a green box for glass and a blue food waste bin. All these will be marked 153/2 Park Cresc (Jones)

There is a First Aid kit in the drawers under the shower room sink.

The Wales Way:

The Wales Way is a set of three signposted long-distance driving routes designed to showcase different sides of Wales. From the apartment, you’re in a perfect spot to jump onto one of the most scenic parts.

The section we’re closest to is part of the Cambrian Way — the north-south route through the mountains. Our local start point is about a 15 minute walk, and is on the A40 Brecon Road near Nevill Hall Hospital, NP7 7EG).

From there just follow the road west and you’re on the Wales Way.

Simple plan for half a day – go as far as Brecon and back:

· Start in Abergavenny

· Coffee stop in Crickhowell

· Continue to Brecon

· Visit canal basin or cathedral

· Return same way
